Earlier this year, we posted about the presence of nutria rodents around Long Lake. The "Have You Seen Me Around Long Lake?" post at WhatsUpLongLake remains the most viewed of all our posts to-date, and residents continue reporting sightings. Regrettably, eradication is an expensive project and a lower priority than other urgent issues for the Steering Committee, and one not currently funded by the State . The WA Fish and Wildlife resource contacted at the statewide invasive species program acknowledges the problem and researched potential grants, but with no success. So for now at least, there is no action foreseen for Long Lake, our watershed, or the state as a whole.
