LMD Steering Committee Members Bob Zych & Richard Brantner accompanied County Staff on Monday July 25th on a lake buoy maintenance mission. After launching the County pontoon boat, the crew set out to deploy new safety buoys, retrieve & replace damaged buoys, and relocate existing buoys that wondered from their optimal locations. Thanks to the efforts of Richard, Lacey Parks provided 4 new buoys for deployment.
Buoys are heavy, bulky, and expensive, costing about $600 each, not to mention each heavy anchor attached. But despite the heat of the day, a motor malfunction, and breezes that made navigating the pontoon boat rather challenging, the crew completed the mission.
